I only started using Twitter a couple months ago and initially thought of it as a waste of time because I didn’t have time to read about what so and so had for dinner or their favorite movie. I figured it was the next ‘big thing’ that would be gone tomorrow and Facebook already took up to much of my day.

Then I started seeing more folks on my tv & news channels using it so I signed up and started following people and clicking their follower’s profiles and realized that this was another way for me to find ‘like-minded’ folks of interest to me. I spent about a week researching Twitter and I’m now convinced that it’s not just a ‘fad’ and I can utilize social networking as a marketing tool to my advantage in a big way!

It’s not the newest thing, but there are many affiliate marketers that are not utilizing this tool yet so don’t get left behind. Start learning how to take advantage of Twitter as a moneymaking tool because it’s here to stay with millions of users and millions more to come.

When it comes to the size of your Twitter followers is more necessarily better? I would say no because you can have 10,000 followers, but only a small number of them are of interest to you and even fewer of them are interested in what you have to say so what is the point? When I found Twitter I did not see the rationale behind a system that would only allow 140 characters at a time. Today I think it’s the best thing since sliced bread because you can get a feel of the intentions of the person without having to read a ton of words and I like that concept.

From the beginning I made the decision to not go for the ‘get a million followers in a day’ gimmicks. That is of no use to me because I want targeted followers so that I can increase my knowledge of my niche and expose others to my soon-to-be released GamTrak Affiliate Program and GamTrak Software that may be of interest to them.

I don’t follow everyone that follows me and I block anyone that has links to porn sites automatically. I rarely click on the affiliate links that are sent via Direct Message or a ‘generic’ auto reply ‘thanking me’ for following them.  Click here to follow me.

I recently created a [Twitter Page] after hearing Lisa of 2createawebsite talk about taking advantage of your Twitter followers.

You only get one change to make an impression so it only makes sense to create a page that will show the benefits of your website, product or whatever you want them to be interested in. 

I created the following page, which I will be updating soon, so that my tweeps will see in a glance what GamTrak and her Sister Sites are all about!

Today I finally got around to setting up my TweetDeck into Categories now that I’m following over 200 people. It’s much better than just following everyone.

I also ran across a great article that was helpful to me, 6 Twitter Lessons in 6 Months, written by Lisa Irby that I’d like to direct you to as she gives great advice.

I’ll be posting a demo on how I set my TweetDeck up soon.

Twitter has started the program that will verify the user accounts by allowing them to display a [Verified account] button on their profile.

You can now apply for your button so I’m headed over there to do so. Verify your Twitter ID.

This was initially targeted for Celebrities, Musicians, Athletes, Actors, etc., but I want to get one just the same.
